Founded in 1999, GIBS Inspection & Engineering Ltd. is a privately owned Canadian company based in St. Albert, Alberta.
We specialize in pressure equipment integrity management, inspections, and engineering services across Western Canada, serving industries such as oil and gas, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and pulp and paper. Our approach emphasizes safety, compliance, and efficiency—helping clients reduce costs and downtime while extending the lifespan of critical assets.
Using industry best practices and our in-house expertise, we track inspection history, develop tailored inspection plans, and deliver data-driven integrity solutions that prevent failures and improve reliability.
Our team of certified inspectors, engineers, and technicians works closely with clients to identify risks, assess equipment condition, and develop practical solutions aligned with Pressure Equipment Regulators, the American Petroleum Institute (API), the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors, and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Whether supporting ongoing maintenance, ensuring regulatory compliance, or troubleshooting equipment issues, we are committed to delivering high-quality service with precision and reliability.
Meet Our Founder
Kevin Giebelhaus, M.Eng., P.Eng., launched GIBS after working nearly two decades in the oil and gas inspection industry. Starting off as an NDT technician, certified in RT, PT, MT and UT, Kevin grew a passion for equipment inspections and integrity assessments. This enticed him to return to school to become an engineer. After starting his career as a professional engineer and while raising a family, Kevin chose to advance his knowledge by perusing a master’s degree in Welding Engineering through part-time studies which he completed in 2000.
As an ABSA In-Service Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspector (since 2002), and National Board Certified Inspector (since 2010), Kevin continues to expand his expertise in ensuring structural safety and reliability of pressure equipment. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, he continues to take a hands-on approach to equipment assessment and repair oversight.

At GIBS, we uphold high industry standards in safety and quality of work while maintaining a “work safely and efficiently” attitude. We consider our work to be successful when both we and our clients are confident in the safety and reliability of their pressure equipment.
